20 dengue cases reported in Karachi

kARACHI  - The Provincial Dengue Surveillance Cell of the Sindh Health Department has reported that 20 more new cases of dengue fever have been registered in the province over a day.
As per the report issued on Monday, 20 new cases of dengue fever have raised the total number to 1,079 during the ongoing year in Sindh while 11 people have died of the virus in the metropolis.
On the other hand, dengue virus continues to spread unabated in Swat district as 85 new cases surfaced there only the other day. The patients were admitted to Saidu Teaching Hospital (STH).
A total of 1,414 patients have been confirmed to be infected in Swat and adjoining areas. “Around 85 new patients were admitted in STH after the virus was confirmed in them, while 1,147 patients have already returned home after complete recovery,” an official said.
He said 233 patients were hospitalised at the moment, including 160 males and 73 females. “There are six dengue fever patients who have complications while four others are under treatment in the intensive care ward but their condition is stable,” he said, adding three others have been referred to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar.
