ISLAMABAD - Religious scholars and prayer leaders of mosques falling in the jurisdiction of the Islamabad Capital Territory have agreed upon a code of conduct to be implemented during the month of Ramazan for ensuring an atmosphere of brotherhood and religious tolerance. The Auqaf Department of ICT Administration had prepared the code of conduct after taking all the stakeholders into confidence. It was decided in a meeting held in Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Amer Ali Ahmeds office. Religious scholars hailing from different schools of thoughts, SSP Islamabad, Tahir Alam Khan, SSP Islamabad Traffic Police, Deputy Director Auqaf, Asim Ayub, Assistant Commissioners and Magistrates attended the meeting. ICT Administration in the meeting also finalised all the security arrangements for the worship places including mosques and imambargahs in the Federal Capital during the month of Ramazan. According to the code of conduct, it was agreed that the religious scholars would deliver sermons on Friday aimed at promoting religious harmony, unity and brotherhood amongst the people. The prayer leaders of mosques will activate peace committees for internal security of mosques and will use only one gate of the mosques during Taraveh prayers. The volume of the loudspeakers will be kept at a low level. The mosque committee will inform the administration and police in advance about any religious gathering. It was agreed that mosque committee would deploy volunteers at the gate with metal detectors during the prayer timings that would be extra vigilant during the prayer timings. It was also agreed that the vehicles would not be parked near the worship places. Addressing the participants, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Amer Ali Ahmed urged upon the religious scholars to co-operate with the administration and police in strengthening the security measures during the month of Ramzan and take effective measures for the internal security of worship places. Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Amer Ali Ahmed informed that he had directed the Magistrates and SHOs to hold meetings with the mosque committees for effective security arrangements during the month of Ramazan. The officials of CDA have also been asked to remove bushes around the worship places and make proper arrangements for lighting around the worship places with sufficient supply of water for the mosques during Ramazan.
