ISLAMABAD- Pakistan Railways 'Azadi Train' will start its month-long journey from Peshawar Railway Station on Monday and reach Karachi on September 11.
The train journey is starting in connection with the 67thIndependence Day celebrations aim to create awareness among the masses, especially the young generation about the efforts and sacrifices rendered by the Muslims of India in creation of the motherland.
Two compartments in the train have been allocated to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) to highlight various aspects of the Freedom Movement and services of armed forces to the nation.
One compartment is allocated to Pakistan Railway to show its history, and one to the Ministry of Information. Six floats on the train represent culture of each province and AJK. Governors of all the four provinces and foreign diplomats will visit the train during its stop at different stations on its way to Karachi.
Various government departments are collaborating in preparation of 'Azadi Train' which will travel though the country depicting the culture of all the four provinces besides Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.
The step by Pakistan Railways to endeavor to get sponsorship for 'Azadi Train' instead of spending money from the national exchequer has been appreciated.
Cultural programs will also be presented during the halt of the 'Azadi Train' at different station’s to attract visitors.
