Four outlaws bite the dust in ‘shootouts’

Four outlaws including a proclaimed offender, carrying Rs1 million head money, were killed in separate shootouts with police in different areas here on Monday.
In Hafizabad, a notorious Proclaimed Offender, carrying head money of Rs one million, was shot dead in an alleged shootout with police near Geegay village in wee hours of Monday.
According to a press release issued by the DPO office, three armed bandits snatched a bike (LEY-508) from Wajid of Mohallah Bahawalpura from near Bagh Road Hafizabad. On information, the police went after the accused and chased them near Geegay village. However, the “desperados” allegedly opened firing on the Kaleke Mandi Police SHO. Meanwhile, police of other police stations also reached the spot and a shootout erupted. During the crossfire, on the accused, later identified as notorious PO Qaiser alias Qasri, son of Nazira of Lakarianwala (Sukheke) was killed on the spot. The other two accused made good their escape from the scene under the cover of darkness.
According to the police, the PO was wanted by the Hafizabad, Sialkot, Gujranwala and Jhelum districts police in scores of murder, dacoity and kidnapping for ransom cases since long.
The police have seized a Kalashnikov and snatched bike from the place of the shootout.
In Sheikhupura, three outlaws were killed while three others escaped from the scene in two different shootouts that took place in Kot Abdul Malik and Damuana Road locality of the city on Monday.
The Factory Area Police said that four highwaymen set up a picket on Lahore Road near Afshan Town and were looting travellers. Acting on a tip-off, the police rushed to the area and besieged the dacoits. However, the dacoits started firing on the police which the police retaliated. The exchange of fire from both sides continued for quite some time as a result of which two dacoits were killed. Two other dacoits succeeded in fleeing the scene. According to the police, identity of both the dead and absconding dacoits could not be ascertained yet.
In second incident which took place on Damuana Road locality of the city, an outlaw was killed while accomplice escaped the scene in the wee hour of Monday. Reportedly, two highwaymen after snatching a motorcycle and cash from a citizen were fleeing on Damuana Road. A team of the A Division Police, patrolling the area, signalled them to stop. But the outlaws started firing on police. In retaliation an outlaw was killed while another managed to escape. Identity of the deceased dacoit could not be ascertained yet.
In Kamalia, a robber was killed while two policemen suffered gunshot wounds in crossfire here on Monday.
DSP Rana Khalid said that the police arrested a robber who was being taken to police station. In the meantime his accomplices ambushed the police mobile van in Chak 728/GB, Kamalia.
An exchange of fire took place which continued for about half an hour in which a robber was killed while two cops sustained wounds who were rushed to hospital.
