PESHAWAR - A civil society organisation Monday launched a fund raising campaign aims to establish a burn hospital in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In this connection, a fund-raising launching ceremony was held under the auspices of the Hilal Welfare Services (HWS), a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), at the Peshawar Press Club, which was chaired by its chairman Dr Kamran. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Deputy Speaker Imtiaz Shahid Advocate participated as chief guest in the event.
On the occasion, keynote speakers were included Inayat Shah, PTI MPA Zarain Zai, Gul Hamid, and Abdul Haq, whereas a large number of civil society organisation representatives and people from different walks of life attended the ceremony.
Organisation Chairman Dr Kamran explained the aims and objectives of the establishment of 'Burn and General Hospital, and urged philanthropists to extend their support for the cause. He also demanded of the government to support the initiative in health sector.
Addressing on the occasion, Deputy Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Imtiaz Shahid said that the incumbent PTI-led coalition government was taking revolutionary steps in the health and education sectors. "It was top priority of the provincial government to improve health services and take sufficient steps for the promotion of quality education in the province," he said.
He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was being confronted with the menace of terrorism and extremism, adding it was dire need of the hour to establish a Burn hospital in the province.
The Speaker also assured that government would extend every possible support to the Organization in the establishment of Burn and general hospital in the province for the sake of its people.
Besides, PTI MPA Zarain Zai also lauded the efforts of the Organization for taking a step in the health sector. She stressed the need for establishment of a burn hospital in Peshawar, because most of the burn-injured cases were being referred to provincial metropolis Peshawar.
She also assured the organization to provide financial and technical assistance from the government side, to forthwith complete the hospital project.
Similarly, other speakers including Inayat Shah, Abdul Haq, and Gul Hameed also addressed on the gathering, and pledged their support in the accomplishment of the dream for a Burn hospital in the province. On the occasion, Gul Hameed donated Rs5,000 as seed money for the hospital and pledged to give Rs5,000 every month from his salary for this important project.
