Excessive billing fraying tempers

NOWSHERA VIRKAN - Citizens have vehemently condemned the highhandedness of the Gepco and have protested against the issuance of excessive electricity bills for the month of June in Nowshera Virkan Sub-Division. They claimed that the electricity metres were showing less reading than had been charged in the bills. This sheer injustice and tantamount to highhandedness, they lamented. They expressed grave concern over the indifference and non-professional attitude of the Gepco officials. Such recklessness on party of the Gepco officials do not befit a public servant and the practice has been causing widespread dismay among the general public, they pointed out and accused the Gepco metre readers of issuing inflated power bills for the month without getting fresh reading. They urged the higher authorities to take immediate notice of the critical situation otherwise the responsibility would be on the shoulders of the Gepco officials for any unpleasant situation. The demanded stern action against the officials involved in the malpractice. TARGET KILLINGS CONDEMNABLE: Al-Khidmat Foundation Tehsil Nowshera Virkan President Mushtaq Ahmed Joyia has condemned the target killings in Karachi and expressed his sympathies with the bereaved families. He termed the PPP, ANP and MQM equally responsible for the lawlessness and demanded head-on measures to control the situation. In a press statement issued here Sunday, he said that Jamaat-e-Islami believed in peaceful struggle to end the crises being faced by the country. He said that the JI would stage a sit-in on July 15 in Gujranwala in which over 100,000 people would participate. He said that Balochistan Solidarity Day would be observed on July 19 throughout the country, he added.
