PPP moves NA against NARC land transfer

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Friday submitted an adjournment motion in the National Assembly to discuss an urgent matter of converting land of the National Agriculture Research Council (NARC) into housing estate by the CDA. PPP’s MNAs Dr Nafisa Shah, Dr Azra Fazal Peecheuho, Shazia Marri, Beelum Hasnain and Imran Zafar Leghari requested to adjourn the proceeding and debate this important matter.

The NARC is a premier Research Organisation of the country and this proposal of taking over its land for rampant commercialism shows where the priority of the government lies.
Presently, they said, the agriculture of the country is suffering due to heavy taxes and high cost of inputs. “The government needs to respond as to why CDA is being allowed to convert land for research into a housing estate,” he added.
