JHANG - At least 12 people including three women were killed while six others sustained serious injuries in separate incidents here.
In a road accident, six people were killed and five others received serious injuries. A passenger van (LES 9099) bound for Lahore from Jhang while trying to overtake a tractor-trolley loaded with sugarcane near Adda Sultanpur on the Jhang -Lahore Road collided against a truck (MI-5278).
As a result, Zafar Abbas, Ali Imarn, Farzana, Javed Iqbal Sheikh, Khadim Hussain and Ashgar Ali died on the spot while Muhammad Nawaz, Mazhar Abbas, Muhammad Aslam, Ahmed Khan etc received injuries and were admitted to DHQ Hospital.
In Haweli Bahadarshah on the same road, aerial firing in jubilation during a wedding claimed the life of one Muhammad Saqlain, 12, whilst another received bullet injuries. In another incident, Manzoor Hussain, a resident of Basti Dewan Wali was shot dead by three armed men when he was going to perform his Fajar prayers.
Meanwhile, 20 years old Rukhsana hanged herself with a piece of rope and ended her life on a family dispute.
In another incident, one Mehboob Ahmed, 10, died and 72 others fell ill by drinking some beverage bought from a vender in Chak. 216 in the Mochiwala police precincts. However, the vender was later arrested.
Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab Khawaja Sultan Rafique along with Mehr Sulatan Sikandar Bharwana, EDO and DO Health visited the RHC Mochiwala and inquired after the affected people’s health. He also condoled the death of the child with his parents.
Likewise, Mondan, a resident of village Hassana, was electrocuted when she was trying to repair a table fan. In an other incident, 5-year-old Fazal Karim was crushed to death by a speeding van while crossing the road near Nanga Mor.
