TUF marks World Red Cross & Red Crescent Day


FAISALABAD - The University of Faisalabad (TUF) observes World Red Cross & Red Crescent Day at Amin Campus here the other day.
The University of Faisalabad organized a programme followed by a rally at Amin Campus in context with World Red Cross & Red Crescent Day. The event was presided by Dr Abdul Karim Baloch, Rector, aimed to create awareness amongst the masses particularly among the youth about the noble cause.
Lt Col (r) Sadiqur Rehman, Director Coordination Amin Campus, Prof Muhammad Aslam Malik and Mr Rahat Saeed Alvi in their addresses stated that International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is an international humanitarian movement with approximately 97 million volunteers, members and staff worldwide which was founded to protect human life and health, to ensure respect for all human beings, and to prevent and alleviate human suffering, without any discrimination based on nationality, race, sex, religious beliefs, class or political opinions.
Dr Abul Karim Blaoch in his address said that National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies exist in nearly every country in the world. He elaborated that the motto and purpose of the Red Cross Society is based on human welfare, equality, peace and brotherhood which are actually distinguished features of Islam.
The participants also appreciated the efforts of Jean-Henri Dunant, the Founder of Red Cross Movement.
Later, a rally led by Prof Dr Abul Karim Blaoch, actively participated by faculty members and students took place. Students displayed banners, highlighting commendable services of Red Cross/Red Crescent.
