Five terrorists held in Multan

MULTAN - The district police Saturday arrested five alleged terrorists belonging to banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and recovered from their possession a big cache of arms and explosives.
This was disclosed by Regional Police Officer Multan Capt (r) Ameen Wains while addressing a press conference. He said the terrorists had been identified as Muhammad Nasir, Abdul Haseeb, Ahmad Rizwan, Muhammad Amin and Muhammad Sarfaraz.
The RPO told journalists that the accused were going to carry out terrorist activities, target killings and kidnapping for ransom next week, but their timely arrest saved Multan from a big disaster. He added that, besides hand grenades and arms, the police also recovered from their possession maps and addresses of buildings of sensitive institutions.
He also disclosed that the ringleader of the gang, Qari Imran, who was involved in attacks on sensitive institutions and other terrorist acts in Hazara division, had already been arrested from Waziristan. He averred that all secret agencies extended support in arresting the terrorists. “Earlier, SHO Shah Shams arrested one Muhammad Nasir on whose information his other accomplices were arrested,” the RPO revealed.
To a question, he said the arrested terrorists were not involved in the kidnapping of former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani’s son. He asserted the arrest of the terrorists had saved Multan from a big disaster and that it would help break the network of terrorists in South Punjab.
