Wattoo accuses N of pre-poll rigging

MANDI BAHAUDDIN
Accusing the PML-N of pre-poll rigging in NA 108 by-election, PPP leader Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo has said that one more such verdict as was announced by the Election Tribunal in NA 125 rigging case would prove to be dangerous for the N League.
He visited the area to woo PPP leader Mirza Ikram Beg who was annoyed with party leadership. Addressing a press conference at Rasul village, he also alleged pre-poll rigging by the ruling party in the by election of NA 108. He claimed that Mandi was upgraded to district level by him when he was Punjab chief minister.
Thus, he claimed, he had right to ask the people of Mandi Bahaudding for vote and support in favour of PPP candidate Asif Bhagat. He further said that he would visit door to door in the district and request the people to cast their votes for him.
Criticising PTI chief Imran Khan, he said that the former was collecting all turncoats around him for creating new Pakistan. “Is that possible with turncoats?” He said.
Regarding Tariq Raika, he said that the former enjoyed 5 years as MNA from PPP platform despite the fact that he did not speak a word in Urdu in the parliament. He said his party was well aware of the rigging techniques used by PML-N leadership in elections. If they resorted to rigging they would face fate similar they met in NA 125, he warned.
He said the PPP and media would ensure transparent holding of elections in NA 108, adding that high jacking of any polling booth would be resisted. On a question, he said that Sindh government was dealing with the case of Zulfiqar Mirza appropriately. To another question, he said there was no difference between Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto.
On the occasion, Mirza Ikram Beg said that he had no grudge against the PPP leadership, adding that he always remained faithful to the party and would strive for its candidate’s success in the by-poll.
