Punjab Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed on Monday formulated a five-member probing team headed by Sialkot DCO Nadeem Sarwar to probe into the use of substandard material in the construction of academic block and science laboratory at Govt College Women University Sialkot.
The provincial minister visited the university and inspected the science laboratory and academic block which were in shabby condition.
He ordered a strict departmental probe against the contractors for using the substandard material in the construction of science laboratory and academic blocks in this university here. He said that the accused contractors would be brought to the book.
Earlier, addressing an important meeting of the syndicate of Govt College Women University, the minister announced to resolve all issues of this university including provision of PhD faculty, construction of additional classrooms, renovation of the building and provision of the needed funds on priority. He pledged to make all out sincere efforts to ensure long-term planning for the development of the university, besides, removing all hurdles from the way of making it a model university.
Local MPAs - Ch Muhammad Ikram, Rana Abdul Sattar Khan, Rana Muhammad Afzal, DCO Nadeem Sarwar and senior educationists were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile talking to the media men, Provincial Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed said that early expansion in the provincial cabinet was on the cards and six to seven new ministers were likely to be inducted in Punjab cabinet within next couple of days.
