KP govt releases Rs7251m for quake-hit dists

PESHAWAR - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government Tuesday released Rs 7251 million for all the earthquake-affected districts of the province.
As per details, the PTI led government has released Rs 106 million for Abbottabad, Rs 10 million for Bannu, Rs 123million for Batagram, Rs 320 million for Buner, Rs 30 million for Charsadda, Rs 1156 million for Chitral, Rs 1120 million for Dir Lower and Rs 443 million for Upper Dir.
Moreover, Rs 15 million for Hangu, Rs 15 million for Haripur, Rs 10 million for Karak, Rs 5 million for Kohat, Rs 40 million for Upper Kohistan, Rs 120 million for Lower Kohistan, Rs 300 million for Malakand, Rs 132.600 million for Mardan, Rs 20 million for Nowshera, Rs 100 million for Peshawar, Rs 1712 million for Shangla, Rs 60 million for Swabi and Rs 1324 millio for Swat and Rs 90.100 million for Torghar district respectively.
Officials in the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said that rehabilitation activities have been expedited in quake-affected districts of the province, as government departments besides relief organizations are busy to provide relief to the affected families as soon as possible.
The PDMA officials said that out of 232 total killed in October 26 earthquake, heirs of 217 deceased have so far been compensated whereas 311 injured out of 1506 total injured are also compensated.
Likewise, 8435 owners of damaged houses against total 92816 damaged houses were compensated while number of damaged schools raised to 495.
As per the Prime Minister's compensation package for earthquake victims, Rs 0.6 million are being given to the family of each deceased, Rs 0.1 million for each injured, Rs 0.2 million for those physically disabled, Rs 0.2 million for reconstruction of every destroyed house and Rs 0.1 million for partial reconstruction of every house.
According to the PDMA, a total of, 232 people have lost their lives, 1502 sustained injuries and more than 9000 houses were damaged when a powerful earthquake of magnitude 8.1 jolted Khyber Pakhtunkhwa having Epicentre in Hindukash region and focal depth of 193 Kilometre on 26th October, 2015.
