ISLAMABAD - Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak yesterday said that they would not object to the construction of Kalabagh Dam provided the reservations of the province on the project would be addressed.
“We will have no objections on the construction of the dam if our reservations are redressed,” he said while addressing a press conference here in Federal Capital.
He claimed that his province has the capacity to provide electricity for entire country on cheaper rates than the power being generated right now by the federal government through various sources at an average production rate of Rs18 per unit. He further said that they could generate power at the rate of Rs8 per unit through hydle power for which the province is ideal.
To a question, he claimed that federal government owed trillions of rupees to the province on account of electricity royalty and demanded its provision to the province at the earliest so that they could use the money for the overall uplift of the province.
Replying to a question, he said that notices have been issued to three PML-N leaders, including Miza Hamid, Danyal Aziz and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry for levelling baseless allegation against the KP government.
The chief minister said that the ‘Naya Pakistan’ is not created merely with the construction of roads and bridges, “but it is created with the good governance the model for which his government has presented by introducing radical changes in the province.”
To a question, he said the KP government is doing the same thing which it had promised, adding, “We are rectifying the system in the KP and have eliminated corruption”, adding “I had got the province which was being ruled by law of the jungle, but now everything has been settled down, where every task is being done on merit”.
Responding to a query, he called upon the federal government to issue NoCs to the foreign investors to invest in the KP and assured that the provincial government would take its responsibility for their security.
Referring to the development projects in the province, he said they are being built swiftly.
Khattak claimed there is no law and order situation in the province, adding, “I myself move around alone without security as law and order situation has improved considerably.”
