PML-N ministers want Rana Mashhood's resignation

LAHORE: Following National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) notice, the resignation of Punjab Minister for Sports and Education Rana Mashhood is expected as the Punjab government mulls action, a TV channel reported.
According to sources, opinions of participants in the special meeting of Punjab government remained split on the issue. One group wants Mashhood to step down while the other wants to stand by him. The latter is of the view that resignation will cause further problems.
The NAB yesterday started taking action against Rana Mashood for involvement in a corruption scandal. He is expected to be summoned in a few days and if failing to do so, can be arrested. According to reports, NAB has demanded a complete video record related to Mashood’s corruption.
The government sources said that NAB’s notice cannot be the reason for provincial minister’s resignation though. Meanwhile, Rana Mashhood has said that resignation is out of question, adding that he has already been exonerated after inquiries by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and high court. Mashood stated that he was before being a minister was a lawyer. He stated that he has never committed any corrupt act neither can even think of it.
