Plot to involve Army in Musharraf case is serious crime: Ahsan Iqbal

LAHORE- Federal Minister for Planning and development Ahsan Iqbal today said that high treason case against former President Pervez Musharraf was not related to Pakistan Army at all.

Talking to journalists the minister said that those who tried to involve Pakistan army with the high treason case against Musharaf had actually committed serious crime. He advised Musharraf not to put Army prestige at stake in his personal matters as he was no more related to army but leading a political party.

He said that lawyers team of Musharraf wanted to create chaos and crises and termed it as a worst conspiracy against democracy, adding that conspiracies were being hatched to give Musharraf a safe exit. Ahsan Iqbal viewed that it was our constitutional obligation not to compromise on political stability. The minister said that separate laws would be made for the rich and the poor if former president Musharraf did not face the law.
 
He said that the PPO is an extraordinary law and is made for extraordinary circumstances. "PPO will be promulgated for two years only for better results in the interests of the country" he added Answering a question about military operation against Taliban, the minister said that the government can launch the operation if needed.
