ISLAMABAD: The Strawberry Independence Day Rugby Match will be played between old rivals Islamabad Rugby Jinns and Pakistan Army at the Jinns’ home ground in F-10/4 Islamabad on August 14.
It was important to organize the event at such a time as our Armed Forces are busy defending the nation whereas our troops are always part of healthy activities. Strawberry Sports Management are the title sponsors and overall event organizers.
Islamabad’s popular local rugby club, Islamabad Jinns, have participated in various national and international rugby events including Dubai 7s, All India 15s, All Pakistan 7s among others. Pakistan Army is the current National Rugby Champion.
Secretary, Islamabad Rugby Football Club Salman Muzaffar Shaikh said, “The purpose of organizing the match on this date is to convey the message that spirited nations celebrate events as monumental as Independence Day, with great zeal and in a healthy manner”.
Talking about the match, CEO of Strawberry Sports Management Haider Ali Daud said, “Strawberry Independence Day Rugby Match is a great opportunity for defining and cultivating the sport ecosystem of Islamabad. We have activated private sector and citizens to witness, own and embrace sports in lives."
