PESHAWAR - Activists of Fata Students Organisation (FSO) on Sunday set up a protest camp against the arrest of their president Shaukat Aziz by police and demanded his immediate release.
The protest camp was established outside Peshawar Press Club, where a number of FSO activists were seen chanting slogans against the local administration and the FCR. The protesters were demanding immediate release of Aziz’s release, who had been arrested two days ago.
Led by Burhanuddin and Abdul Raheem, FSO activists alleged that Aziz had been arrested after he raised slogans against FCR at a function recently.
His arrest on the instructions of the deputy commissioner was unjust, they said.
A number of banners and placards placed at the camp were written with various slogans, including go FCR go, and we want abolishment of this black law.
The protesters said arrest of their leader for raising slogans against a law was clear violation of human rights.
They said their struggle to remove the FCR would continue till the logical end.
FSO President Shuakat Aziz was held by the Peshawar district administration for protesting against pro-FCR tribal elders during a grand jirga called by the Ministry of States and Frontier Regions in Peshawar few days back.
