MIRPUR (AJK) - The Mirpur Development Authority Director General Mirza Javed Iqbal has inked Rs160 million comprehensive development plans to shape Mirpur as a model city, on Wednesday.
Talking to the media the MDA chief said the MDA has launched various development projects including grand network of roads and link streets in the existing and new housing sectors.
He said that a grand housing sector – Jinnah Model Town - for providing latest residential facilities to the overseas Kashmiris, Mangla Dam affectees and other needy.
Iqbal added that the development working committee of AJK government has given formal approval of the mega city development project in its meeting. He said that MDA was performing its duties to resolve the matters related to the allotment of plots to the genuine allotees without any discrimination and distinction.
Elaborating on the Rs160 million public welfare development projects, Mirza Javed Iqbal said that the project involved the construction and reconditioning of over 10kilometer long inter-city roads in the housing sectors. He said that the roads will be developed on the pattern of Islamabad with under-ground road-side sewerage system and the footpaths and hard shoulders on either side. He said that the project also involved Rs40 million recreation parks to be constructed in Sector D/4 (South), as well as 4/B, 2/C blocks of the same sector.
“3500 kanal has already been acquired by MDA at Sankia and Dohala in the outskirt of existing Mirpur city for Jinnah Model Town Residential Resort at the cost of about Rs780 million”, the MDA chief said. The MDA’s top brass said that an extensive drive against the illegal encroachments and illegal occupation of its land in the housing sectors has been launched. He said that encroachments were being removed without discrimination and the occupied land in these housing sectors Gulshan e Kashmir, Chaman Zar, have been vacated from ‘land mafia’.
He declared that ‘land mafia’ will be dealt with harshly by Mirpur Development Authority. He said that the concerned team of Anti-encroachment staff has been given a dead line to remove all illegal encroachments and occupation of the MDA-owned land in the residential sectors within stipulated time.
The MDA chief continued that construction work on the housing project will be executed soon. The MDA chairman while responding to a question said that they have taken possession 3500 kanals for Model Town which has been awarded in favour of the MDA.
He said the eligible and deserving state subjects of six categories including Mangla Dam affectees, overseas Kashmiris, government employees and other local shelter less persons have been allotted the plots in Model Town through transparent balloting.
