RAWALPINDI - Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said that the government is making all-out efforts to provide people edibles at affordable rates in Sasta bazaars and open market.He said that a subsidy of Rs 5 billion was also being given on the provision of flour under Ramazan package. He expressed these views during a surprise visit to a Sasta Bazaar here at Haidri Chowk on Friday.The CM asked district government to take strict action against profiteers and hoarders. He also instructed public representatives and officers of district administration to continuously monitor the prices of daily use items in Ramazan Sasta bazaars and open market. A large number of consumers cheered after seeing the CM among them and lodged their complaints with the provincial chief executive. The CM directed authorities concerned to solve the problems being faced by complainants.Shahbaz Sharif said that prices and quality of essential items should be monitored in Ramazan bazaars and open markets. He said that he was personally monitoring Ramazan bazaars for ensuring provision of quality essential items at cheaper rates to the masses. He said that government has taken all necessary steps for providing possible relief to the people during Ramazan. He said that people were getting relief due to timely and effective steps of the government. The CM inspected all stalls of daily use items. He got information from the shopkeepers and consumers about the prices of daily use items, upon which the consumers said that the essential items are available at cheaper rates in Ramazan Bazaars as compared to open market.The CM was accompanied by former MNA Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, former MPA Zia Ullah Shah, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Sajid Zafar Dall and PML-N local leader Maqbool Ahmed Khan.On the other hand, the CM's visit to a specific bazaar sparked protest among people in the city.
