Clerks protest for raise of salaries

HAFIZABAD - Clerks of different departments Monday took a rally against provincial and federal governments and in favour of their demands. Holding banners, placards and mock coffins of Zardari and Sharif Brothers, and chanting slogans, the protesters called upon them to fulfil their promises and implement Pay and Pension Commission's recommendations regarding increase in their salaries. Led by All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) chief Ch Muhammad Afzal and APCA Hafizabad chapter President Ch Nasarullah Hanjra, the protesting clerks said that they would continue their strike till the acceptance of their demands.
APCA chief Ch Afzal lashed out at both Asif Ali Zardari and Mian Brothers for the prevailing sad state of affairs in the country. Addressing the rally in front of the DCO Office, he said that both PML-N and PPP chiefs have deprived the middle and lower middle class of their bread and butter, while the poor are in an untellable condition. They have plundered national wealth and during the past four years they have given hunger, unemployment and suicides to the have-notes, he said. He urged the clerks to remain united to get their due rights. He said that he has convened the meeting of provincial presidents of APCA on June 15 to devise further strategies to press the government to fulfil their promises. He also said that the clerks of Pakistan were united and they would soon stage sit-in demonstration at Islamabad.
