Meeting to discuss Fata political reforms



PESHAWAR - In order to discuss the progress on implementation of Political Parties Order in the tribal areas, an interactive session on “Political reforms in Fata” would be held on June 13, 2012 at Governor House Peshawar.
According to press release issued by Fata Secretariat, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Barrister Masood Kausar would be the chief guest. The participants would be Fata Parliamentarians, leaders of political parties in Fata, women from civil society working for Fata, officers from Safron & Fata Secretariat, Chief Secretary KP, Senior Media Persons and other dignitaries.
The event has been organised in the light of two orders signed by the president regarding amendments to the FCR and extension of Political Parties Order 2002 to the tribal areas, which could be a prelude to far-reaching administrative, judicial and political reforms in Tribal Areas. The new reforms allow political parties to freely operate in Fata, which hitherto were banned. Now they can proclaim their manifestos and hold public rallies in Fata for the first time.
The agenda and objective of the Interactive Session would be to know and discuss the progress and implementation of Political Parties Order; to know about the reaction of the people of Fata in the face of their tribal norms, culture and traditions; to understand their difficulties faced by them in launching their political activities, holding of public rallies and the quantum of impacts of the reforms on the people of Fata. The purpose of the session is also to ask the Political Parties to augment and to increase their political activities and to launch organized political campaigns in Fata.
