Mehmood ur Rasheed alleges mega corruption in PYF

LAHORE- Leader of the opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed has declared the Punjab Youth Festival as a mega corruption scandal.

Speaking in the Punjab Assembly today, Mehmood ur Rasheed alleged the provincial government purchased two lakh track suits at the cost of Rs1,100 each while same track suits were available in market for Rs400.

He alleged that the festival was not aimed at making records to improve the reputation of country abroad but to make money and the task was achieved successfully in the name promoting national image. The statement of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader created chaos in the assembly as opposition and ruling party members started chanted slogans against each other.

Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal had to interrupt to bring the situation under control.  Punjab Sports Ministers Rana Mashhood told the house that the government has conducted audit and no corruption was exposed in PYF.  He said that only 15,000 track suits were purchased for the festival and information of the opposition leader was not correct. “If provincial government did not organise recreational activities for youth then should it provide them with guns? he questioned.
