Balochistan bans arms display, pillion riding

QUETTA - The Balochistan government has decided to provide security to lives and properties of the people during the holy month of Muharram with the commitment to bust all the gangs of criminals undermining the law and order situation in the province.The government has also banned display of weapons and pillion riding to check target killings. It has declared eight districts sensitive during Muharram, an official announcement said.A very high-level meeting, attended by the cabinet members, the FC IG, senior officials of police and the local administration, reviewed the law and order situation in the province.Chief Minister Aslam Raisani who presided over the meeting pledged to provide complete security to Moharrum processions in Quetta and other areas and frustrate the evil designs of the criminals out to disrupt law and order in the province.The meeting identified sensitive districts as Khuzdar, Zhob, Loralai, Naseerabad, Sibi, Kachhi, Jaffarabad and Quetta where regular Muharram processions are taken out. There will be special arrangements for security during the holy month in all the eight sensitive districts, Durrani told the participants of the meeting.It was observed at the meeting that there were no differences among the people on ethnic, linguistic and sectarian grounds, adding the criminal gangs involved in spoiling the law and order situation in the province would be crushed using all the available resources. It was also noted at the meeting thag these criminal gangs were involved in target killings, kidnapping for ransom, terrorism, subversion and other heinous crimes against humanity and the state. They have no religion, ethnicity, tribe and sect, but are criminals out to disrupt the law and order in Balochistan, official sources said.The meeting appealed to ulema and the people to come forward and cooperate with the government in its efforts to keep peace during the holy month of Muharram.Comparing the law and order situation of Balochistan with that of the other provinces, the meeting said it was better and well stable in Balochistan and that there should be no cause of concern in this regard.“There are more target killings, bomb blasts, acts of subversion, kidnappings for ransom and other heinous crimes in some other provinces than Balochistan,” an official announcement said.
