The Election Commission of Pakistan has extended the deadline of submitting the affidavit in dual nationality case till November 30 following the request from the parliamentarians.
Media Reports said Additional Secretary of ECP Afzal Khan told that many parliamentarians had requested to extend the last date of submitting the undertakings as they had gone to perform Hajj. Accepting their requests, the ECP has given extension and now the new deadline to submit affidavits is November 30, Khan told.
Furthermore, it was also decided that the lawmakers who had submitted unverified affidavits will be sent letters to submit the attested undertakings regarding their dual nationality.
The commission had not received the affidavits of more than 200 parliamentarians till the earlier deadline including Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Federal Minister Khursheed Shah, Maulana Fazl ur Rehman and Senate leader Jahangir Badar.
