SARGODHA (APP) - Member Syndicate Committee University of Sargodha (UoS) Shaikh Muhammad Afzal blamed that newly-appointed vice chancellor UoS, during his previous term as VC, had embezzled over Rs50 million by misusing authorities in university funds and his decisions had irreparable loss to the University of Sargodha. Talking to APP on Tuesday, the member syndicate committee said that in the construction works of Sargodha Medical College (SMC), former VC Ch Muhammad Akram had awarded contract to his favourite construction company Friends Engineering Company and by setting aside the rules and regulations. The VC had made an excessive payment Rs47.04million to the owner of that construction company by misusing his authorities, he alleged. The member said that in connection with the house rent the former VC had also embezzled Rs3.5 million from the university funds, adding that the investigation agencies had already conducted an inquiry against the vice chancellor and reports had been sent to the Punjab governor in this regard. He further said that he had pointed out the issue time and again and had asked the acting vice chancellor to carry out an inquiry into the matter of Sargodha Medical College but he intentionally avoided. He demanded the Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman and other authorities concerned to take strict action against the vice chancellor. He also requested the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motto notice of the issue.
