Returning Officer (RO) Zahid Iqbal announced the official results of NA-122 and PP-147 by-elections while talking to the media, Waqt News reported.

 He declared Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Ayaz Sadiq as the winner on MNA seat in NA-122. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) candidate Shoaib Siddique won the MPA seat.

“Elections were transparent and we were not under any kind of pressure,” he said.

While discussing the role of Pakistan Army, RO stated that they had the assistance of Army at all levels.

“4,000 Army personnel were present in yesterday’s by-elections,” he told the media.

He further stated that both candidates fought positevily and none of them showed any apprehensions on the election process.

“The contest was very close as there was mere difference of 2400 votes,” he stated

Mr. Iqbal said that their duty was to conduct elections and they did it with full transparency and neutrality
