Turis concerned over terror acts


PESHAWAR – Elders of Turi Tribe hailing from Kurram Agency have expressed grave concern over the increasing terror activities in the Agency, and urged local people to unite in establishing peace and foil heinous designs of anti-state elements in the area.
Speaking at a news conference here at Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday, Chairman Standing Committee on State and Frontier Regions, Sajid Hussain Turi, said that there are not in any sectarian conflict in Kurram Agency, but terrorists are involved to sabotage peace initiatives being carried out by the government in the region. He informed that a peace agreement has already been signed between both the Shia and Sunni sects, after which the situation has become more stable and peaceful in the Agency.
Flanked by elders of the area, Sajid Turi, who is also President of Tanzemul Momineen Kurram Agency, condemned the killing of 14 innocent people in a car bomb blast in Parachanar, adding Turi and Bangash tribes along with local people have expressed their resentment over the terrorists act. He claimed that a terrorist leader linked with Tehreek-e-Taliban, Fazl Saeed Haqqani, emerged in Lower Kurram since 2007, and was involved in several terrorists acts in the area. He claimed that Haqqani was also responsible for the killing of innocent people and bloodshed.
Hussain maintained that no action was taken to arrest him (Fazl Saeed Haqqani) despite the clear instructions issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor. He informed that an FIR was lodged after a bomb blast had occurred in Parachanar on February 16, but no action was taken in this regard.
He urged the local people to be united against the terrorists and extend support to government to ensure sustainable peace and foil terrorist acts in the region. He demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Corps Commander to take proactive action against hideouts of terrorists to establish lasted peace in Kurram agency.
