BAHAWALPUR - Islamia University of Bahawalpur Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Mukhtar said that the Pakistani youth are able to defend the ideological and geographical boundaries of the motherland, pledging that the IUB would continue its efforts to promote patriotism in the students. He was addressing an exclusive ceremony held in main auditorium to observe the Defence Day under the auspices of IUB Dramatic Club. He reiterated that the doors of the IUB were open for all the sections of society and university will carry on provideing not only ideological guidance but also practical collaboration to the local organisations for socio-economic development of the area. On the occasion, members of university syndicate Dr. Naveed A Malik, Rector Virtual University of Pakistan, Lahore, Dr. Khalid Mehmood Khan (Sitara-e-Imtiaz), ex-Vice Chancellor Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, Dr Khaqan Babar were also present. In the ceremony, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bahawalpur President Sahibzada Muzammilur Raseed, Rana Muhammad Khalid of Shameem Group of Industries and Masud Sabir of Vasaib organisation were also eminent among audience. The members of IUB Dramatic Club paid rich tributes to the martyrs of 1965 and 1971 wars through patriotic songs and skits. The emotional scenes of the skit produced with reference to Gyari Sector brought tears in audience’s eyes. Meanwhile in another exclusive ceremony marking the Defence Day, IUB Dramatic Club displayed excellent performance held in Bahawalpur Cantt. Corps Commander, Lt-Gen Haroon Aslam, in his address, particularly lauded the fine performance of students. The Vice Chancellor congratulated In- IUB Dramatic Club charge Dr Abdul Wajid Khan, Agha Sadaf Mehdi and students for their outstanding presentation on Defence Day.
