SWAT - Pakistan International Human Rights (PIHR) on Thursday held a rally at Mingora to show Solidarity with Pakistan Army over the burial of soldiers in an avalanche.
The PIHR men led by Pakistan Intentional Human Rights Chairman Raja Laiqat Ali and PTI Swat General Sectary Fazal Hakim Khan took out the rally from Nishat Chowk and marched towards circuit house. The rally participants were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans ‘Pakistan Army Zindabad’.
Addressing the rally participants, PIHR chairman stressed upon the government to take keen interest in retrieving the avalanche buried soldiers.
He criticised the government that it was busy looting the national exchequer and oblivious of the natural calamity at Siachen.
He observed that at present every Pakistani became the patient of depression, as they were compelled to live a miserable life. He alleged that the rulers were busy thinking to feed their family twice a day because of the price hike in daily use commodities with every new dawn. The rampant corruption has become a routine in almost all the government institution, he added.
The protesters demanded of the government that they should take concrete steps and make all possible efforts to rescue the soldiers in order to save the precious lives of nation’s brave and courageous sons.
Later, special prayers were offered for the personnel of Pakistan Army buried under a huge avalanche in Siachen.
Meanwhile, a seminar was held at the University of Swat, which was participated by the faculty members and students of the university.
The students and teachers of affiliated colleges also attended the seminar. Dr Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan, Vice Chancellor, University of Swat, spoke on the occasion. He told the students how to differentiate between perception and reality and how to understand and practice the same in the day-to-day life.
He highlighted the importance of the topic in detail and said that all problemmes were usually multi-dimensional and therefore multiple solutions were available to address the problems.
After a detailed lecture, a question-answer session was held. In response to queries of the students the Vice Chancellor told that such seminars will also be held in future and renowned scholars from various fields and various institutions will be invited.
He said the University of Swat was just a year-and-a-half old and was facing financial problems, adding that the infrastructure was also lacking. He said despite all this the university was progressing in right direction and that is only due to its able administration, faculty and hardworking students. He said the University of Swat is focusing on 4 year integrated Bachelor’s programme, which is equivalent to the conventional MA/ MSc programme.
The VC informed the students that University of Swat is planning for expansion, starting new disciplines and will provide opportunities of higher studies for students and faculty of the University. At end of the seminar special prayers were offered for the personnel of Pak Army engulfed by the avalanche in Siachin area.
