SAHIWAL - Divisional Commissioner Qazi Ishfaq Qureshi said that society could not be purged from bribery and corruption without social boycott of the corrupts.
He was addressing a seminar held at District Council to mark World Anti-Corruption Day arranged by Anti-Corruption Department here the other day.
He said that it was a religious, moral and national responsibility of each person to express hatred towards those who take bribe. He informed that 1151 bribery complaints were registered in the division since 5th July 2012, while 94 cases had been registered and 28 persons were arrested on taking bribe and inquiries against 453 govet officials were underway.
He said that it was the need of the hour that awareness be created among the masses against the menace and society must boycott the elements that offer and take bribe. ACD Iqbal Hussain, DPO Malik Iqbal, ADC Dr Asif tufail, EDO Finance Saqib Ali Ateel and Anti-Corruption Assistant Director Shafiq Ahmad beside govt officers, lawyers, Journalists and notables participated in the seminar.
