Violence devours 11 more in Karachi


KARACHI – Political workers and a police inspector among 11 people were killed and four others wounded in separate incidents of target killing on Wednesday.
A cop was shot dead at Baldia Town area within the remits of Baldia Town police station.
Police said that the victim namely Mukhtiar Jamaluddin, 45, deputed as sub inspector in Saeedabad police station was on way to police station from home when unidentified assailants riding on a motorbike sprayed bullets on him and managed to flee from the scene. He was taken to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. A worker of MQM was shot dead in Paper Market, within the jurisdiction of Kharadar police station.
Police said that the victim namely Abid Raza, 35, resident of Nappier area, was shot dead by unidentified armed riders at Paper market area. He succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.
A sub-inspector at the Pakistan Custom’s anti-smuggling unit and his nephew were gunned down in Labour Colony in Quaidabad Police precincts.
Police said the victims namely Bhawal Shah, 50, and his nephew Bakar Shah, 25, were going somewhere on a vehicle when gunmen riding a motorbike intercepted them and sprayed bullets. They sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot.
A clearing and forwarding agent of Pakistan Customs House was gunned down near Allah Wali Chowrangi within limits of Ferozabad police station.  Police said the victim namely Munir Shah, 50, was going somewhere in his car when unidentified assailants tried to snatch his car and shot him over resistance.
A local leader of Bengali Action Committee was shot dead when he was sitting at his nephew’s medical and general store in Al-Noor Society in Korangi police remits. The deceased was identified as Zubair aka Doctor, 32. Police said that two armed motorcyclists were behind the incident.
A shopkeeper Asif, 25, son of Abdul Hafeez, was shot dead inside his shop by armed motorcyclists at Generator Market within remits of Mithadar police station. There were reports that deceased was shot and killed by extortionists but ASP Usman Bajwa declined the reports. Deceased residents of Azizabad area and was the supporter of the MQM while his brother Asim is the active worker of MQM. 
A factory worker Abdul Ghaffar, 28, was killed and his companion Sohail Manzur, 26, was wounded in Rasheedabad area within SITE B-Section police remits. Police said that the incident occurred when police were chasing the three armed robbers. The robbers opened indiscriminate firing to avoid arrest. They managed to flee while a man was hit by the bullets. Another person was injured.
They both were eating food at the local hotel.  Police found at least three-day-old body from Ghaziabad in Orangi Town within the remits of Pakistan Bazaar police station. Police officials said that the victim was shot dead after being kidnapped, adding that torture marks were also found on his body.  Imtiaz Ikhlaq, 40, was found dead from Maripur Road within Sher Shah police remits. Police said that the nature of the death has yet to be ascertained as no mark of physical torture or bullet was found in his body.
Additional deputy director of Karachi Development Authority (KDA), Ata Muhammad, 40, and his driver Rauf Siddiqui were injured when they were returning home in Azizabad area from their office in Lines Area. Two armed motorcyclists opened indiscriminate firing on his car in Gulberg locality. The injured were taken to ASH where doctors termed their condition out of danger.  Meanwhile, a hawker Tasleem Azam was shot dead in Rizvia Society.
He was also working at Sindh Services Hospital.
Haji Iqbal, 70, was killed inside his residential apartment in Gulitan-e-Jauhar. Police said unidentified culprits stabbed him to death.
