RAWALPINDI- US Secretary of State John Kerry today met Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at General Headquarters.
During the meeting, Pakistan’s ongoing military offensive in tribal areas was discussed.
Kerry offered his condolences for the victims of Peshawar attack on December 16, 2014. Earlier, Kerry laid floral wreath at Yadgar-i-Shuda and paid tribute to sacrifices rendered by Pakistan’s armed forces and its people in the war against militancy.
Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on National Security and Foreign Affairs, also addressed a press conference with John Kerry in Islamabad. Aziz said, “We hope US can prevail upon India to work with Pakistan towards regional peace and economic prosperity.”
“We encourage both Pakistan and India to re-engage and the US will do whatever it can to try to help in that effort,” Secretary John Kerry said.
