PM pledges to fulfil all commitments made in '2008

QUETTA - Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said the PPP government will fulfill its all commitments made with the masses during the general elections of 2008. He asked annoyed the Baloch people to come on the table of negotiation to solve the issues. The prime minister stated this while addressing party workers at Governors House here on Tuesday. Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi and Interior Minister Rehman Malik were also present. Strict security measures were taken during the visit of PM and other federal minister to Quetta. The premier said he had promised during his last visit to Quetta that the next federal cabinet would meet in Quetta and we had honoured our promise as the federal cabinet would meet today (Wednesday). He said the PPP was an ideological party and its workers might have difference with leadership but they had no differences with the vision of Mutarama Benazir Bhutto and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. The PPP is a democratic party and all decisions are made democratically, he added. He said during the meeting of party workers, they expressed their grievances which were thoroughly heard and would be solved. The prime minister said: Those politicians who term PPP as threat for the country should understand that the PPP is the biggest party which will solve all problems of the masses. He said the PPP was committed to fulfill its promises made in the Charter of Democracy, adding the PPP would soon reorganise the party in the province. The PM said that 80 per cent promises had been fulfilled which were made during the elections of 2008. It is PPP which restored 73 Constitution, held signing ceremony on NFC-Award in Gwadar and provided provincial autonomy to the provinces he added. He said the PPP always did politics of principles as it was the vision of Benazir Bhutto. Party workers may have complaints with Asif Ali Zardari and Yousuf Raza Gilani but they have no contradiction with the vision of Benazir Bhutto, he added. Inviting the disgruntled Baloch for dialogue, he said those who were sitting outside the country should come for dialogues. We once against invite annoyed brothers for dialogue to solve the issues, he said, adding they should apprise us of their reservations and we are ready to solve them. He assured that all provinces would get their rights and there would be no injustice with any province. He said wiping out terrorism was top priority of the PPP and its reconciliation process should not be considered as its weakness. He said they were not weak but believed in reconciliation and got this direction from Benazir Bhutto. We need peaceful relations with our neighbouring countries including Iran and Afghanistan, the PM said, adding the United States should include Pakistan in the reconciliation process being pursued in Afghanistan. He said without inclusion of Pakistan in the US-Afghanistan reconciliation process, there would be more difficulties for Pakistan. Earlier, Prime Minister Gilani addressed the representatives of Balochistan Chamber of Commerce. He said the federal government was taking steps for increasing the volume of trade with countries having borders with Balochistan province to help create employment opportunities. The main purpose of my visit to Balochistan is to listen to the representatives of the people about the work and performance of the federal governments institutions he added. He said he had directed the federal ministers to visit Balochistan once a month to help resolve the problems relating to their ministries. The PM said the projects of power transmission lines including those of Zhob-Dera Ismail Khan and Dadu-Khuzdar would be completed soon, adding he along with the chief minister would inaugurate these projects. He said the law and order was a provincial subject but the federal government would extend full support whenever the province of Balochistan felt any need for it. The premier said he had directed Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik to visit Balochistan and coordinate the security measures. Referring to delay in construction of highways in Balochistan, Gilani said the National Highway Authority (NHA) was directed to complete its projects in Balochistan as soon as possible. He sad great potential existed for export of fisheries and fruits from Balochistan and steps were being taken to raise their quality to the international standard. He said he had directed Chairman FBR, Export Promotion Bureau, Secretary Commerce, Chairman NHA and other officials to frequently visit Balochistan and meet the relevant people in order to help resolve the problems of business community.
