‘Toxic’ pakoras send nine to hospital

BAHAWALNAGAR: Nine members of a family including children were hospitalised after consuming ‘toxic’ pakoras here in the limits of Saddr police on Tuesday.
Bahawalnagar DCO Azhar Hayyat took notice of the incidents and on his directives several eateries were raided and fined over sale of substandard food items.
According to hospital sources, labourer Ameer, resident of Adda Qadri Mill and his family consumed ‘Pakoras’ gifted by the neighbours. However, soon condition of the family members including Ameer, his son Allah Rakha, Ali Raza, Suleman, Rizwan, Ahmad Raza, Uzma, Yasmin and Sonia started deteriorated. On in formation Rescue 1122 shifted the family members to DHQ Hospital Bahawalnagar. Later, eight of them were discharged after giving them first aid, however, Ali Raza was is admitted due to his critical condition. –Staff Reporter
Meanwhile, the Saddr Police on the directives of DPO Liaquat Ali Malik, arrested the accused Suleman and raids are being conducted for the arrest of other accused Nadeem.
On the other hand, the DCO took strong exception of the incident and directed crackdown on the sellers of substandard food.
