Suicide hits at funerals no service to Islam


PESHAWAR - Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amir Haider Khan Hoti has said that targeting and shedding blood of innocent people in funeral prayers, bazaars and public gatherings through terrorism is no service to Islam and humanity, rather it is against the basic message of Islam and such incidents are attacks against humanity and peace.
He vowed for accomplishing the struggle against enemies of Islam and humanity and not allowing to go waste the sacrifices for survival and protection of the country and nation. He said that martyrs of Nowshehra incident have once again repeated the history of sacrifices of Khudai Khidmatgar and ANP. He said that effective and successful struggle against terrorism was in progress and the current terror incidents were reaction to those successful operations.
He issued directives for the provision of compensation money to the affectees of Budha Bher incident within two weeks.
He was addressing a gathering held in connection with the provision of compensation cheques to the affectees of Peshawar and Nowshehra at the Chief Minister’s House on Monday.
The CM handed over cheques of Rs. 3,00,000 and Rs. 1,00,000 to the heirs of the martyrs and injured of Azam Tower, Scheme Chowk and Kohat Bus Stand incidents in Peshawar and current terror incidents in Nowshehra. The CM distributed a total Rs. 14.4 million among the heirs of 17 martyrs besides widow of Rescue 1122 personnel and 46 inured of Peshawar incidents and 4 martyrs and 41 inured of Nowshehra incidents.
Provincial Information Minister Mian Iftekhar hussain, MPAs Pervez Khan, Alamgir Khalil, Aatif ur Rahman, ANP Nowshehra and Peshawar office bearers, Commissioner Peshawar Tariq Jameel, DCOs Peshawar and Nowshehra, DORs, DG Rescue 1122 Dr. Shams ul Haq and other relevant authorities were also present on the occasion.
Collective prayers were also offered for the martyrs and injured on the occasion.
The CM said that persons involved in coward activities of targeting innocent people don’t deserve to be called humans adding Islam taught us peace and service to humanity and targeting innocent people was against humanity and peace. He said that Pakhtuns were facing brutality, destruction and terrorism in the region for the past 30 years and there was hardly any area or family left affected. He said that human life has no substitute and billions of rupees can’t even replace a human life. He said that assistance to affectees from government was minor effort to ease sufferings of affectees.
He said that the procedure of government assistance to affectees some three years back was very complex and deserving people had to wait for months for assistance, however, the present government has not only increased the compensation amount three times but has also simplified procedure of compensation payment.
He condemned the suicide attack on the participants of a funeral prayer in Budha Bher in strong words and directed concerned authorities for ensuring provision of compensation within two weeks.
Talking to media men, the CM said that operations against certain terrorist groups were underway in different areas during the past four months in which certain terrorists were killed and arrested. He said that the government and the security forces have full support of the people in the form of Aman Lashkar in these operations. He said that people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA were fed up with terrorism and supporting the government.
