Mumtaz Bhutto hints at contesting polls

LARKANA - PML-N leader Mumtaz Ali Bhutto said Friday that he would contest the general elections and claimed only a Bhutto could fight elections against Zardaris.
While talking to the delegations at his residence in hometown Mirpur Bhutto, Bhutto said he won the election defeating the PPP in 1993 but he felt that the assembly was dominated by the illiterates and those elected by rigging the polls. “Since the standard of assemblies had declined to lowest level, I realised that it would be useless to sit in such assemblies but that doesn’t mean that I would never contest the polls,” he contended.
Former chairman of defunct the Sindh National Front alleged that MNA Faryal Talpur won seat from Ratodero by using government machinery.
This seat belongs to Bhutto family as it was constituency of my father Nawab Nabi Bakhsh Bhutto who had never lost the elections and once defeated former Sindh Chief Minister Qazi Fazlullah. Later, my father handed over this constituency to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on his request and announced retirement from politics. This was the constituency from where Shaheed Benazir used to contest polls.
“This constituency belongs to Bhuttos and only a Bhutto would counter Zardaris with full force,” Mumtaz Bhutto said.
He alleged that a brawl between the Bhutto and Khuhro communities was patronaged under the orders of MNA Faryal Talpur and administration. He said that under the patronage of the present government machinery and police, a large number of Khuhro men including absconders attacked the poor growers and opened indiscriminate fire on them. He said the cross fire from both sides continued for hours but the police didn’t respond to the situation. Mumtaz claimed that the situation of hostility has gone up after Asif Ali Zardari came into power.
Meanwhile, scores of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz activists took out a rally against the government’s FIR pertaining to alleged murder of former party leader Bashir Qureshi. The rally led by party leaders Sanaullah Abbasi, Javaid Solangi, Fazal Mirani and others, marched from Nishter Road Larkana to the grave Qureshi at Ratodero. The protesters demanded the government to ledge an FIR in this regard as per consent of the party leadership, otherwise, they would continue their protest.
