The Punjab government has distributed Rs9.6 million as compensation to the Indian shelling victims in Sialkot border villages, a federal minister claimed here on Sunday.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid told newsmen that the amount had been distributed to the families of 11 people who were martyred in Indian shelling in Sialkot border villages while a sum of Rs4.1 million was distributed to the injured persons.
Hamid visited the Indian shelling hit villages including Dhamaala-Charwah, Umeraanwali, Bajra Garhi, Harpal, Kingra, Rangor, Bhagiyaari and surrounding areas, which fall in his electoral constituency. He deeply consoled the killings of the innocent people with their grieved families. He also offered Fateha for the eternal peace of the Indian shelling victims.
He strongly condemned the Indian shelling on Sialkot border villages and targeting of civilian population by the Indian Border Security Forces. Talking to Indian shelling victims here today, the federal minister termed the firing severe violation of international ceasefire laws and human rights as well. He urged the United Nations to take serious notice of the killings of the Pakistani citizens.
Zahid Hamid said that the peace wish of Pakistan should never be misunderstood by India. He said that Pakistan wanted to resolve all the issues including burning Kashmir Issue through peaceful and fruitful dialogues with India.
He said that the whole Pakistani nation stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the armed forces of Pakistan and was ready to give every sacrifice for defending the Motherland. He said that the armed forces of Pakistan have the full capability to defend the every inch of the Motherland.
Later, he visited Combine Military Hospital, where he inquired after the health of the under treatment persons injured by the unprovoked intensified Indian shelling on Sialkot border villages.
