LHC rejects petition seeking vote recount in NA-118

LAHORE- Lahore High Court (LHC) today rejected a petition seeking recounting of votes polled in NA-118 Lahore constituency during the general elections 2013.

The petition, filed by Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) Parliamentarian Muhammad Riaz Malik was heard by LHC Judge Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah. It was stated in the petition that 211 polling bags of the constituency have now been found. It was further mentioned that the votes of Punjab Assembly were included in the vote count earlier. He pleaded the court to include the 211 bags and order a recount of the votes.

The single member bench rejected the petition filed by the PML-N MNA and ordered him to consult the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) over the matter. It should be noted that Malik was elected in the National Assembly from NA-118 Lahore after he beat Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's Hamid Zaman in the general elections of 2013.
