OUR STAFF REPORTER MANDI BAHAUDDIN - MPA Tariq Mehmood Sahi has flayed the double standards of the Punjab government as it had exempted Sialkot district of conversion (commercialization) fees and implemented in Mandi Bahauddin district only for political victimization. Talking to mediamen here Saturday, he said that levy of 20 per cent of the land value as conversion fee was cruel act. The people of the district denounce the act and demand early withdrawal of such huge fees, he said and adding that the Punjab government first stopped development funds of the district and now it was targeting Mandi people through conversion fee. Such state of affairs could not be allowed at any cost, he announced. He said that the PPP legislators belonging to district would agitate at every forum and never let anyone to loot the public in the name of taxation, he announced. Meanwhile, Anjuman-e-Tajran leaders Sheikh Ikhlaq Ahmed, Asad Idrees Quraishi have also criticisedhigh rate of conversion fee.
