KARACHI - Former general secretary of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Sindh chapter, Zahid Rafeeq Butt, passed away after prolonged illness at the PNS Shifa on Saturday. He was 48. Butt had a kidney problem for the past two years that also damaged his lever and became the cause of his death. Butt started his political career in 1987 from the platform of the PML-N Sindh. He severed the party for 24 years. He served as information secretary, additional general secretary and general secretary in the party. Butt also served as adviser to former Sindh chief minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi. He left a son, a daughter and a wife to mourn his death. His funeral prayer will be held at Bilal Mosque, Saeedabad, after Zohr prayers on Sunday. Pakistan Peoples Party leaders, including Najmi Alam, Saeed Ghani, Waqar Mehdi, Sohail Abidi and others, have expressed sorrow and grief over the sad demise of the PML-N leader.
