Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar has extended congratulations to all the countrymen on the occasion of Independence Day of Pakistan falling on Tuesday (today).
In his message on the occasion, he said, “August 14 is a joyous and glorious day for Muslims of the sub-continent fulfilling the ambitions of the Muslims of India for an independent homeland. Sixty five years down the line it has been a struggle with challenges to fulfill the promise our founding Quaid and his dedicated team held dear to their heart and strived for. Successes have also been the hallmark, whether in science, education, sports or other fields but those have been less than what we aimed for. We have become an atomic power but democracy is yet to flourish truly in our country.
On this occasion, which has come in the holy month of Ramazan, as it had been in 1947, I wish all my countrymen in general and Pakistanis from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata in particular, a very happy independence day. Let us commit today with ironclad resolve to support a democratic, peace-loving and tolerant Pakistan. Let us set aside our differences and excel as a nation in economic and social sectors. Let us carve out our name in sports, culture, literature and science. Fraternity, mainstreaming of women and minorities, provision of quick and affordable justice, social justice and safety nets should be the corner stone of our statehood.
Lets reaffirm our sustained commitment for a better and brighter future for the coming generations.
Lastly, but most importantly, let us solemnly remember the sacrifices of civilians and the men in uniform for creation of this country, and thereafter, for its defence against all threats, internal and external”.
