LAHORE - Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the larger interest of the country has asked the Supreme Court for constituting a commission comprising three judges to investigate the alleged rigging in 2013 general elections. He said that PTI chairman Imran Khan has taken the biggest U-turn of the history by rejecting the government’s offer of constituting a judicial commission. He said Imran’s demand of technocrat government has been fully exposed. He said there is no provision of technocrat government in the constitution. He said that the entire nation has seen the negative and undemocratic approach of Imran through his demand of setting up such a government. The CM said that the alliance of Dr Qadri and Imran Khan is a conspiracy of creating anarchy in the country. He said that the nation would not allow such elements to darken the country’s bright future. He said that Imran Khan will be responsible for any unrest crated due to his party’s politics of agitation, and the history and nation would never forgiven the PTI chief for this. The CM expressed these views during his interviews to separate private TV channels here on Wednesday. He said that Imran had promised to the nation not to tell a lie but he is setting records of taking U-turns and telling lies. He said that Imran in his recent interview has said that he has complete faith in Supreme Court Chief Justice Nasirul Mulak; therefore, a judicial commission should be constituted to investigate the alleged poll rigging. He said this is also a clear example of Imran’s duplicity that he is supporter of holding dialogues with the murderers of officers and jawans of Pak Army and 40,000 innocent citizens. He said that Imran is refusing to hold dialogues with the elected government on political matters. He said that a few days ago Imran Khan had announced that he would unfold the names of those people who had conducted rigging in the elections but he gave wrong statement in this regard. The CM said that Justice Ramdey had retired six months before the elections and vacated the government residence and shifted to his private home. He said that Imran levelled baseless allegations in this regard. He said Imran’s allegation about Election Commission Member Justice Riaz Kiayani that he is legal advisor to Ittefaq Foundry is not true. Similarly, Imran Khan also told a lie that Nawaz Sharif performed Umrah at the government expense whereas the PM bore the expenses. Shahbaz said Imran told another lie that the Punjab government has spent Rs70 billion on Lahore Metro Bus project. He invited Imran to arrange an audit of the project through any institution whereas the4 PTI government prepared feasibility of metro bus project in Peshawar and its cost was estimated at Rs45 billion. He advised Imran Khan not to play with the fate of the nation and do not mislead the people through wrong statements and lies. The CM said that Dr Qadri has joined Imran Khan. He said that when a person orders to kill the people and attack the law enforcers, he cannot be allowed to play with the life and property of the people. He said that protection of life and property is the responsibility of the government and ‘we’ll discharge this responsibility at every cost and no one would be allowed to play with the destiny of the nation.’ He said the PTI has filed 59 petitions with regard to electoral rigging, out of which 30 petitions have been decided. Replying to a question, Shahbaz said that only Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, he himself and his son Hamza Shahbaz are in politics whereas his second son is not in politics while Imran had distributed tickets among his family members in the 2013 elections. He said that qabza groups and those who got written off loans are in Imran Khan’s party, therefore, he should purge his party. He said that Jehangir Tareen has also got waved off loans. Shahbaz said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s announcement regarding setting up a judicial commission of the Supreme Court is a splendid decision. He said that if Imran Khan terms it a delayed decision then I would say “it’s never too late” as any moment to change the sorrow of the nation into happiness is precious. He said that Imran should take pity on the nation and show patience. He said Imran should remember that time and tide wait for none and there is still time to resolve the issues.About the Model Town incident, Shahbaz said that he is deeply grieved and shocked over the loss of precious human lives and has sympathised with the bereaved families and took all necessary steps after the incident. He expressed his belief that there will be complete justice in this incident and justice will seen to be done. He said that he had already said that if in a transparent investigation it is proved that he had ordered firing directly or indirectly, he will immediately resign. Shahbaz said that so-called revolutionary instigated his workers under the garb of this tragic incident and raised slogans of “qasas” as a result of which police officials were martyred and hundreds were injured. Is this justice when a complainant himself becomes judge and decides the matters? Shahbaz said when there was dengue, flood, earthquake or any other natural calamity, these so-called messiahs were enjoying cool breeze in Canada and on recreational trips in London whereas Khadim-e-Punjab was with the people in the hour of distress. He said that Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq is playing a positive role for improving the situation.Responding to a question about Musharraf, Shahbaz said that the case is sub-judice in the court and he has made no promise regarding the former military ruler. This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
