RAWALPINDI - The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered a huge quantity of heroin during raids at different places and arrested three accused besides recovering arms and ammunition and a vehicle, informed ANF Headquarters spokesman on Thursday. "ANF got this success in six operations that were carried out at Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi and Quetta," he said adding that the value of recovered heroin was Rs 656 million in international market.
According to him, ANF Quetta launched an operation near D Baloch Chowk, District Turbat and seized 87 kg of export quality crystal heroin and apprehended Mohsin. The drugs were being transported in a vehicle Toyota Surf (un-registered) along with 1 rifle, 1 pistol and ammunition. The drugs were brought from Afghanistan and were destined abroad via Gawadar. Similarly, ANF Lahore during an operation at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore arrested Kashif Tasneem and recovered 1.6 kg of heroin concealed in an Amplifier. The accused was to travel to UK by PIA flight number PK-757 and was British nationality holder, he said.
ANF Peshawar spot check team intercepted a motorcycle at Kund Park near Jehangira and recovered 3 kg of heroin from Niaz Ali and arrested him on the spot.
In Peshawar, a parcel was intercepted and 1.45 kg heroin was recovered, he said in addition with the heroin was concealed in 5 Sauce Pans. The parcel was dispatched through DHL Courier Company and was destined for Canada.
ANF Karachi intercepted a parcel and recovered 0.38 kg of heroin concealed in 30 parts of Rotary Tablet Punching Machine. The parcel was dispatched through OCS Courier Company and was destined for UK, the spokes man mentioned.
All accused have been arrested while cases registered in ANF Police Stations and further investigations were under progress, he informed.
