PESHAWAR - Jamaat Islami Chief Sirajul Haq Friday submitted his nomination papers at the election commission office for contesting Senate polls from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The JI provincial chief Prof Mohammad Ibrahim Khan was nominated as covering candidate. Prof Ibrahim had already served as member of the Upper House.
It was a unanimous decision of the board to nominate Sirajul Haq for the Senate seat.
Talking to media persons after submitting his nomination papers, Sirajul Haq said there is no doubt as who is behind the deadly 2012 Baldia Town fire in which at least 258 factory workers lost their lives.
The JI has seven seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. About the PPP-MQM coalition for Senate polls, he criticised the PPP for ignoring the Baldia Town incident just to gain maximum benefit in the election.
