RAHIM YAR KHAN

The journalists’ community on Saturday took out a rally against the demolition of press club canteen and accused the TMA of acting on the behest of ruling party MNA.
The rally started from District Press Club and marched through different roads to reach City Bridge. PML-N district president Mian Khalid Saheen, DBA President Sardar SaleemUllah Jatoi, DPC president Ch Bashir Ahmed, GS Asim Saddique, Sadiqabad Press Club president Rana Arshad Javed, PPP district president Akram Bhatti, JUP divisional president Raiz Noori, PTI leader Rana Qammar, JI’s Shoaibur Rehman and Apca leader Mehmoob Khan addressed the rally’s participants. They condemned the attack on DPC and flayed the TMA for acting on the behest of a ruling party MNA. They said that parliamentarians who are playing politics in the name of PML-N for their vested interests, want grabbing each and every inch of land through their “qabza group”.
They said that some parliamentarians are using government departments against media workers and DPC through their media managers “but it would be called attack on freedom of press.” They said that influential politicians made the TMA hostage which has become a party against professional media workers and DPC by demolishing the canteen established on the press club’s premises.
In his address City Council president Sardar Saifullah Khan Niazi said that this city does not belong to MNA Mian Imtiaz and his brother Haji Ibrahim and they should stop their oppression against the media workers and DPC, otherwise, they would be answerable of this act.
Later, the DPC office-bearers announced their protest schedule. According to the schedule, on Wednesday as All Parties Conference will be organised, on Thursday journalists across the district will hold protests and on Friday, a large public protest will be held against the demolition of the canteen and “highhandedness of the TMA.”
