Final decision on secy-level talks today: India

NEW DELHI: India remained undecided on going ahead with the foreign secretary-level talks, even after Pakistan’s move to detain JeM chief Maulana Masood Azhar and forming a joint investigation team to act on leads given by its neighbour on the Pathankot attack.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday met Sushma Swaraj to discuss the developing situation but a final decision was deferred till the return of NSA Ajit Doval from Paris today. Earlier, MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup had said, “The decision (on FS talks) will be taken after the meeting”, referring to the meeting between Modi and Swaraj. Hectic consultations followed the detention of JeM chief Maulana Masood Azhar. However, Swarup said there has been no official confirmation on the “arrest” of Azhar.
Another report in the Indian media said, secretary-level talks between India and Pakistan will not be held on January 15 as New Delhi wants to wait and watch developments. Sources in Indian government told India Today that both India and Pakistan have mutually agreed to hold the talks later.
