Leader of the Opposition in Punjab Assembly Mehmoodur Rashid along with other Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPAs and leaders staged a demonstration in front of Nandipur Power Project, criticising the PML-N government for its failure to overcome the power crisis. The protesters alleged that the present government had failed to overcome the loadshedding and ‘Mian brothers’ were inaugurating fake power projects in the country only for photo shoots.
They regretted that billions of rupee were spent on Nandipur Power project but the government failed to add even a single mega watt to the national grid. They said Nandipur power project had become non-functional due to negligence of the rulers and “showbiz Sharif” was busy cheating the nation.
On the occasion, PTI stalwart Mehmoodur Rashid said that electricity shortfall had crossed the figures of 7,500 mega watt and industry in Punjab, especially exported-oriented industries in Sialkot, Gujranwala and Faisalabad were confronted worst crisis due to crippling loadshedding. He said the rulers had failed to fulfil their promise and compelled the fast observers to take to the streets against unscheduled power outages. They emphasized upon the need for early ‘restart’ of Nandipur Power station to provide some relief to the citizens. Mehmoodur Rashid said that Azadi March of the PTI on August 14 would be a historic one, warning that if the government attempted to create any hurdle in its way, ‘Sharif brothers’ would be responsible for the consequences.
