PESHAWAR - Challenging his arrest, former provincial minister for Mineral Development Ziaullah Afridi moved the Peshawar High Court against his arrest by the Ehtesab Commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on charges of corruption and misuse of authority and prayed for declaring the arrest as illegal.
Hayatullah Khan, brother of the arrested minister, filed a petition in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) challenging arrest of his brother by the Ehtesab Commission.
The petitioner prayed before the court to declare the arrest of former provincial minister Ziaullah Afridi by the Ehtesab Commission as illegal and un-constitutional, saying the arrest is the violation of article IV and IX of the constitution. The petitioner demanded release of Ziaullah Afridi. Ziaullah Afridi was arrested by KP Ehtesab Commission on charges of corruption and misuse of authority on June 9 last. The accountability court has granted 13 days physical remands of the former provincial minister in the custody of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission (KPEC).
Police arrest four illegal Afghans
Staff Reporter from Chakwal adds: Saddar police in four different search operations arrested four Afghan nationals residing illegally at village Jbair Pur of Chakwal.
Police arrested Afghan nationals namely Juma Hazrat Khan, Abdul Khaliq Abdullah, Ghaffar Khan and Akram Nadir Khan for staying illegally at village Jbairpur. All the four persons were booked under 14 foreign act and were sent to judicial lock-up.
