Rabbani at odds with PML-Q

ISLAMABAD (Online) - The differences between 18th Amendment Implementation Commission and Pakistan Muslim League-Q have increased over the devolution of federal ministries held by the nominees of the latter. The meeting of commission, scheduled to meet on Monday, was also cancelled due to the differences over devolution of ministries. The PML-Q, which recently became part of the governing alliance, has argued that several functions of the ministries of education, health, food and agriculture, minorities and labour should be retained by the federal government and should not be devolved to the provinces under the 18th Amendment. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani have also assured PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujjat Hussain and former Punjab chief minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi to resolve the issue. The 18th Amendment Implementation Commission Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani has cancelled the commission meeting on Monday after getting call from Presidency, said sources. Senator Raza Rabbani has made it clear on the President that without amendment to the constitution devolution of ministries could not be blocked. The commission should be allowed to finish its work, he said.
